Old Avalon Golf Course and Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in Hermitage, Pennsylvania have joined together to offer our Legends Golf Package.

Named because of the golfing greats that have played each course, Arnold Palmer played at Tam O’Shanter as a teenager and Sam Snead set the course record there nearly 90 years ago.

Ben Hogan played an 18-hole exhibition round back in 1951 at Old Avalon.  He won both The Masters and the U.S. Open that year.  August 5th, 1951 was designated as “Ben Hogan Day” at Old Avalon.  The golf course was filled with spectators to watch one of the greatest golfers of all time give an hour clinic then head out to play in front of his local fans.

About Old Avalon Golf Course…

Old Avalon is owned by the city of Warren, Ohio and a favorite for thousands of golfers in the Youngstown-Warren area.  Since 2019, the course continues a huge resurgence headed by its new PGA Professional and course operator.  Improved course conditions and a friendly staff are leading the way to its renewed popularity.

The course is known for its small greens and fun layout.  The front 9 is more open but holes #1, #6, and #7 will provide a tough test.  The back 9 is quite a challenge with tree-lined fairways and multi-tiered greens.  The famous “Loop” of holes #11 – 15 is the most difficult stretch of golf at Old Avalon.  The practice facility is a great place to learn the game as well.
