Old Avalon is owned by the city of Warren, Ohio and a favorite for thousands of golfers in the Youngstown-Warren area.  Since 2019, the course continues a huge resurgence under M2 Golf Management, headed by PGA Professional Scott Karabin.  Improved course conditions and a friendly staff are leading the way to its renewed popularity.

The course is known for its small greens and fun layout.  The front nine is more forgiving but hole numbers 1, 6, and 7 provide a difficult challenge.  Tree-lined fairways and multi-tiered greens highlight the back nine.  Old Avalon’s practice area is also a great facility to learn the game.

Back in 1917, Howland, Ohio resident Judith Henn had 132 acres available for sale.  With a possible influenza epidemic facing the area,  the land was donated to the city of Warren to be utilized for a facility to treat those infected.  However, when the virus failed to materialize, city council now found itself holding vacant land.

Contingent upon the property only be used for recreational purposes,  it was determined a municipal 9-hole facility would be developed for the residents of Warren to enjoy.  The course opened to the public in 1928.  A second nine holes was added not long after.
